Accounting & Payroll Specialist

The Accounting and Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities and ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll. The role includes recording financial transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing payroll calculations, reviewing attendance and employee deductions, processing salaries, maintaining payroll records, and supporting monthly financial reporting. The specialist ensures compliance with company policies, applicable labor regulations, tax requirements, and social security obligations while maintaining strict confidentiality of employee and financial information. The position also works closely with Human Resources, Finance, and management to resolve payroll discrepancies, support audits, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial and employee data.

Responsibilities

  • Process monthly payroll accurately and within the approved timelines.
  • Review attendance records, overtime, leave, allowances, deductions, and employee benefits before payroll processing.
  • Calculate salaries, bonuses, commissions, end-of-service benefits, and other employee payments.
  • Ensure payroll compliance with applicable labour laws, tax regulations, social security requirements, and company policies.
  • Prepare payroll reports, salary transfer files, payslips, and payroll-related accounting entries.
  • Record daily financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including payroll, accruals, prepayments, and employee-related expenses.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, payroll accounts, employee advances, receivables, payables, and general ledger balances.
  • Process supplier invoices, employee reimbursements, and approved payments.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee salary inquiries professionally and confidentially.
  • Maintain complete and secure payroll, accounting, and employee financial records.
  • Support monthly and year-end closing activities, financial reporting, budgeting, and audit requirements.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure employee information, contracts, salary changes, and terminations are accurately reflected in payroll.
  • Assist in preparing statutory reports and submitting required payments to the relevant authorities.
  • Protect the confidentiality and accuracy of all financial and employee information.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting and payroll.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing, general accounting principles, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Good understanding of labour laws, income tax, social security, and payroll compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting and payroll systems, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to meet strict payroll and reporting deadlines.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality when handling employee and financial information.
  • Good command of Arabic and English
